GARDENER'S PLANTING SYSTEM
The Gardener's Planting System is a fully responsive Web site that was developed in phases. The first phase reads and writes files for plant information; the second phase will use a relational database. It is located on the Ormer Technologies Web site at http://www.ormer.net/gps.
The purpose of the website was to have everything the average gardener needs to know about plants that they are likely to grow. It is of assistance in purchasing and landscaping decisions, without running all over the Internet seeking answers. The user can pick a type of plant on the main page, and then display different types of information about that plant on any of several pages.
This page began as a school project that was a part of the Web and Mobile Design certification. There is a tendency to develop general prototypes in the public educational system in a manner that maximizes student learning. This allows the student and/or the school the option of sharing code with other students previous to project completion and subsequent deployment.
This development methodology is in direct contrast to work projects that are funded by an employer previous to taking the class. Employer sponsorship may cause some expectation of confidentiality.
